Our CEO, Mark, is an avid fan of Coventry City Football Club and had always dreamed of sponsoring his team. So, in July 2022, Mark and the team were utterly delighted to announce that they had officially become the CCFC Programme Sponsor for 22/23.
The History Of Coventry City Football Club
Coventry City Football Club was founded in 1883 by Willie Stanley, who happened to work for the local cycle company, Singers. Initially, the club went by the name Singers FC until 1898 when it underwent a name change, becoming Coventry City. In the early days, matches were held at Dowells Field, which was situated off Binley Road. However, in 1887, the club relocated to Stoke Road before finally settling at the Highfield Road site in 1899. The years from 1887 to 1892 marked a particularly successful period for the club, during which they clinched the Birmingham Junior Cup in consecutive years, 1891 and 1892.
Over the years, the club have seen their fair share of management from Harry Storer, who led the team into winning the Third Division South championship, to Jimmy Hill, who sparked a revolution at the club and steered them to the promotion to the promised land of Division 1. Their current force to be reckoned with, Mark Robins, returned to Coventry City Football Club in 2017 and historically led the team to a 2-1 win over Oxford United in the Checkatrade Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium
The agreement
Under the agreement, the Purple Planet Packaging logo will be prominently displayed on the front cover of every copy of the matchday programme, known as PUSB (Play Up Sky Blues). Additionally, Purple Planet Packaging will have advertising space within this highly popular programme.
Tynan Scope, Head of Commercial at Coventry City Football Club, announced the following;
